Being the owner of a BMW, this client is very accustomed to some of the finer things in life and he expected nothing less from his sound system. When you are looking for the best, you deal with the best and use only the best products available to accomplish the task at hand. This customer chose our facility to perform the work on his vehicle because we are known for our attention to detail and unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.
The first challenge when adding a sound system to this vehicle is dealing with the fiber optics system. We used a Mobridge DA-1000 which basically goes in place of the factory amplifier and converts the vehicles fiber optic audio feed
into a standard Toslink optical connection. This was then fed into the optical input on an Audison Bit One where we can take advantage of 32 band EQ’s, custom crossovers, time delay and more. We crossed over each of the 8 channels of output on the Bit One appropriately so that the tweeters, midrange speakers, midbass speakers, and subwoofers had their own discrete outputs allowing them to be adjusted independently from the convenience of the drivers seat using the USB connection that replaced the cigarette lighter. These signals were then feed to the inputs on 3 separate Mosconi
amplifiers which were mounted to a custom amp rack in the trunk. Once amplified, the signal was then sent to a pair of Hybrid Audio L1R2 ring radiator tweeters mounted in custom A-Pillars, a pair of Hybrid L4SE midrange speakers mounted in custom built kick pods, two pairs of Hybrid L6SE midbass speakers mounted in custom door pods and finally a pair of Morel Ultimo 10″ subwoofers in a custom enclosure that fired the subs through the vehicles ski pass. To add a little flare, we mounted some white LED strips to shine on the subwoofers just enough to invite you to look closer.
