The 3 most important things to consider in a subwoofer system:
- Fitment – If you’re reading this, then we already know that you like your bass, but do you like it enough to give up all of your storage space? If you are like most people, the answer is no. So one of the first things you need to think about before adding a subwoofer system to your vehicle is how much space are you willing to lose in order to have it. Sharing this information with your product specialist will allow him to make a recommendation that will give you the bass you want while keeping your grocery getter getting groceries!
- Power handling – If you’re a big bass kind of person, or just a “round out the sound” kind of person, you need a subwoofer system that can produce the kind of power it takes to satisfy your bass cravings. The reason this is important is because, if you under power a subwoofer, it will most likely fail prematurely. This is not due to the simple fact of being underpowered, although many forums would tell you otherwise, but rather because of the likelihood that you will try to create more bass than the system should be able to by boosting the EQ, damaging the signal and in turn, the subwoofer. Conversely, you don’t want to overpower your woofer either, you want a nice balance.
- Enclosure – The quality of the enclosure design and build is absolutely the most important part of your subwoofer system and cannot be overvalued. Whether you go with a sealed enclosure, ported or even a band pass enclosure, you need to be sure that it is well built and properly tuned so that it allows your new subwoofer to give you all that it was designed to.
Having great products is one thing…
Knowing how to install them correctly makes all the difference in the world! Given that a subwoofer is such a powerful and obvious addition to your sound system, deficiencies in the subwoofer response will be so much more noticeable than say, from a tweeter. This is why we continually educate ourselves and attend professional training seminars to keep our subwoofer enclosure design and fabrication skills sharp. When we design a subwoofer enclosure for your vehicle, we don’t simply build to the manufacturers recommendations, we actually model the subwoofers response in a computer program. This helps us to manipulate certain variables to achieve the best possible outcome. When it comes to the actual fabrication, we use nothing but the best materials and the most advanced techniques to ensure that your enclosure is strong and makes the most use of the space, all while looking good too!
