2008 Toyota Tundra gets a full system plus some extra goodies!

They say that good things come to those who wait, and I can tell you it has never been more true than with the owner of this truck.  In this world of instant gratification, it is very refreshing to see somebody piece together their dream system over the course of four years and save up to bring it to the only place in town he knows will make his dream a reality!  While we would have loved to outfit his truck with another of our Audison Full D/A systems, you really can’t complain about the (Old School) MB Quart/JL Audio setup that he had acquired over the years.

First things first, we had to get this vehicle secured with all the gear we would be putting in it.  So we installed a Compustar full featured security system with remote start convenience and the Drone system for added convenience and vehicle tracking. Next we moved on to the sound deadening, which was applied to all four doors, the floors, roof and back wall to kill any vibrations and road noise.  The sound system starts with an Alpine INA-W900BT in the dash with many add-ons such as XM Tuner, CD Changer, Steering wheel control adapter and a back-up camera mounted in a custom molded housing in the factory tailgate handle.  The audio feeds from the Alpine radio into the input of the Audison Bit Ten D which then passes the audio onto the 3 amplifiers behind the back seat only after completely equalizing the sound to perfection.  Behind the back seat, we installed 2 JL Audio 300/4 amplifiers (one running the front tweeters and one running the front midrange MB Quart speakers) and a JL 1000/1 which was used to power the two JL W6 subwoofers.  This is referred to as a 5 Channel Active system and it is our specialty.

For the back end, we made the subwoofer enclosure and the custom steel amp rack two separate pieces so that they would be more easily serviceable in the future.  Once they were mounted in place, we fabricated a custom panel to trim everything out nice and neat that actually became part of the factory plastic which means that the new panel actually clips into place using the factory retainer clips.  We wrapped these panels in two separate colors to give a nice, integrated look, while breaking up the large panel.  This truck sounds fantastic and looks nice and clean and does not leg space in the passenger compartment at all.

And here is a shot of what the camera sees. That ought to make it easier to hitch up the jet skis!

We then textured it to match the factory finish and mounted it in place. The camera can still be removed from behind for servicing if need be.

Here is a custom bezel we made to house the Alpine rear view camera in the factory tailgate handle.

We made the trim piece part of the factory panel so that it uses the factory clips to hold it in place.

Here you can see the decorative panel that we fabricated to trim out the amplifiers and the two subwoofers. The two colors are almost dead on matches for other colors in the vehicle.

We placed a subwoofer level control knob in a knockout just in front of the shifter for easy access and a female USB port right next to it for easily updating the Bit Ten D.

We mounted the Alpine CD Changer and Bit Ten D in the center console for easy access and trimmed them out with a form fitting panel wrapped in black vinyl.

The MB Quart speakers, which replaced the factory 6×9’s were mounted in place using custom adapter plates which were sealed to the door with open cell foam.

We applied sound deadener material to the doors, floors, roof and back wall to keep vibration and noise under control.

We take the same care with the door jambs and running boards.

We like to tape off certain areas of the vehicle that we work on for extended periods of time to keep them free of damage.
