Our Elettromedia sales rep, Doug, stopped by the other day with a little surprise for us, one of the new HDP amplifiers from Hertz. This class D amplifier is much smaller than other Hertz amps but still packs a punch and has plenty of cool features. The particular amplifier that Doug brought it was the HDP4 which is capable of pushing 150 watts to its four channels at 4 ohms, 250 watts at 2 ohms and 500 watts when you bridge the channels at 4 ohms! Yes, that’s right, a 1000 watt amplifier that can fit under Honda Civic seat! They also released an HDP1 (1000 watts at 2 ohms) mono amplifier specifically meant for driving subwoofers and and HDP5 (70 watts x 4 at 4 ohms and 550 watts x 1 @ 2 ohms) five channel amplifier for a complete system.
Some very cool features of these amplifiers is that you can use either the low-level RCA style connections if you have an aftermarket radio or you can use the built in high-level speaker inputs for integrating with your factory radio. And, on the HDP4 and HDP5, you have multiple high level inputs so you can retain your ability to fade front to rear. They also feature the patented ART circuitry to allow the amplifier to turn on once music is playing and turn off when its not. Fully adjustable crossovers with a x10 swtich, complex protection circuits and a nice backlit logo make these amps our go to line. Oh, and a 3 year warranty doesn’t hurt either!
