Most times that I ask customers about their experiences with local car audio shops, I get the same response. The salesperson didn’t listen to them and just wanted to move as many boxes as they possibly could because more stuff is better…right? Wrong. We take pride in the fact that we do not follow this practice, but prefer to take the time to listen to your needs and make sensible recommendations that fit your lifestyle and budget instead. Here are a couple of examples of what I mean and, don’t worry, we are fully capable of demonstrating all of these to you when you come into our store so you can make an educated decision!
Example #1 – Backseat driving?
Most people’s idea of a sound system in a vehicle involves the following: Deck, Front Speakers, Rear Speakers, 4 Channel Amplifier, Mono Amplifier, Subwoofer (or 2). Now, this design certainly is not the worst thing you can do for the sound in your car, but is it really what you need? Sure, it will be loud and your rear seat passengers sure will be entertained, but it also is going to take up a lot of space, present a huge demand on your vehicle’s charging system and be pretty costly.
The whole reason music was ever recorded in the first place was so that we could relive the concert experience. Well, a concert generally takes place in front of you right? So, the more focus we put on the speakers that can paint an image of something taking place in front of us the better, right? Now if we do away with replacing the rear speakers entirely, integrate with the existing radio rather than replacing it (don’t worry we can make your factory radio play your iPod or connect to your phone) and run the whole system off of one amp instead of two, think of all the money we have freed up! Now maybe we use that toward better front speakers, a better amp or maybe a processor that can turn your car into a
concert hall on wheels. Or maybe you just claim a great deal and be happy! Whichever way you decide to go, we have maximized your investment while minimizing the effect on your vehicle and I call that a win-win!
Example #2 – Bringin the bass!
Let’s say you come in to Handcrafted Car Audio saying that you want to add some bass to your vehicle’s sound system. While other places may recommend the old “1000 watt amplifier and 2 10″ subwoofers in a big sealed enclosure” package, we would probably offer a 500 watt amplifier running a single 10″ subwoofer in a vented enclosure. With their system, you get alot of bass through brute force and your vehicle’s electrical system will feel it (hence the dimming headlights you may have seen before). Our system delivers deeper, more powerful bass while using half as much power simply because we know how to build the proper enclosure for your system. Building such an enclosure that makes the most of your investment, however, is not the easiest way but it is the best way and that’s why we do it!
Example #3 -The brains of the operation.
As the owner of Handcrafted Car Audio, I draw on my 16 years of experience in my industry when I make decisions concerning my business and how it operates. This experience is what led me to select Compustar as our Car Alarm and Remote Car Starter supplier, over all of the other ones that you may have seen on TV shows or in big box stores. That type of retailer is looking for the easy sale, whereas we are looking to piece together a system that satisfies your needs without draining your wallet and leaves open the possibility of future upgrades.
The brain, as you might assume, is the control center for the entire alarm/starter system and having a low quality brain could lead to false alarms, failure to report an intrusion or it could flat out stop working and leave you stranded on your road trip! If you choose a system from another manufacturer that features their top of the line remote controller, you will probably get a high quality brain, but what if you don’t need that remote and prefer something more simple? With Compustar products, and the way we sell them, you get the same high quality brain regardless of which brain you choose and, since they are packaged independently, you can always upgrade the remote down the road! The other guys just can’t do that! Again, it is about getting you the system that is right for you, not just the one that is simply easy to stock and sell.
We know that there are several places around town that you can go to for your Mobile Electronics needs and many of them probably have enticing “deals” that may even be less expensive than we are. But we’re okay with that because we know that the cheapest option often leads to dissatisfaction and buyer’s remorse. The fact that you’ve made it to the end of this post shows me that you want something more and that is why I started this business, to offer high value industry leading products and unparalleled installation, not the cheapest product I could find.
